Antimalarial Activity of Nigella sativa L. Seed Extracts and Selection of Resistance in Plasmodium berghei ANKA in a Mouse Model

Rahma Udu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the antimalarial potential, safety, and resistance development of plant extracts in a mouse model. The extracts showed high parasitemia suppression, ability to reverse anemia, but also potential for developing resistance to specific drugs. Future research may focus on further developing these plant extracts as new antimalarial drugs.

Screening of phytochemicals and bioactivities of different parts of Ludwigia erecta (L.) H. Hara

Maheda Khier Elhaj et al.

Summary: The study investigated the biological activities and phytochemistry of different parts of Ludwigia erecta L., showing antimicrobial, anti-Giardial, antimalarial, antitumor and antioxidant effects. The extracts contained flavonoids, sterols, tannins, triterpenes, and saponins. The highest activities were found in the flower chloroform: methanol extract against E. coli, the root extract against Giardia, and the fruit extract for antioxidant properties.
