Catalytic roles of acid property in different morphologies of H-ZSM-5 zeolites for syngas-to-aromatics conversion over ZnCrOx/H-ZSM-5 catalysts

Zixuan Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the direct conversion of syngas into aromatics using bifunctional catalysts coupling ZnCrOx oxides and H-ZSM-5 zeolites with different morphologies. The results showed that the CO conversion was affected by the Bronsted acid sites, and the combination of acidity and particle size influenced the aromatics selectivity and distribution. Different morphologies of H-ZSM-5 zeolites had different effects on the transfer of intermediate species and side reactions, leading to variations in the aromatics selectivity. TPAOH treatment on a specific H-ZSM-5 zeolite promoted olefins cyclization and increased the aromatics selectivity.

A Simple Strategy Stabilizing for a CuFe/SiO2 Catalyst and Boosting Higher Alcohols' Synthesis from Syngas

Nana Gong et al.

Summary: Stable F-T-based catalyst development in direct CO hydrogenation to higher alcohols remains challenging. In this study, CuFe/SiO2 catalysts treated with a piranha solution were prepared and evaluated. The treated catalyst showed higher alcohols' selectivity and stability due to the enrichment of hydroxyl groups on SiO2, anchoring the Cu-Fe active components and inhibiting hydrocarbon formation.

Effect of sodium incorporation into Fe-Zn catalyst for Fischer- Tropsch synthesis to light olefins

Yasemin Fatih et al.

Summary: The effects of precipitant and solid basicity on the Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) activity of the sodium doped zinc ferrite catalysts were studied. The type of precipitant and ionic medium influenced the textural properties of zinc ferrites. Sodium promoter also affected the reduction behavior of the catalysts. The basicity of the catalysts was correlated with FTS activity and high olefin selectivity was achieved with an optimum surface basicity.

Nano-Hollow Zeolite-Encapsulated Highly Dispersed Ultra-Fine Fe Nanoparticles as Fischer-Tropsch Catalyst for Syngas-to-Olefins

Rui Hu et al.

Summary: A nano-hollow zeolite-encapsulating ultra-fine Fe nanoparticle catalyst, Fe@Sn-h-HT, was synthesized via water steam treatment of the Fe@Sn-h catalyst prepared by the dissolution-recrystallization (D-R) method. Fe@Sn-h-HT catalyst possessed a hierarchical porous structure and a well-dispersed Fe2O3 particles with a size of 3.4 nm. Additionally, characterization methods such as XRD, HAADF-STEM, and H-2-TPR confirmed the transformation of skeleton Fe in Fe@Sn-h into uniformly dispersed Fe2O3 in Fe@Sn-h-HT catalyst. The higher selectivity and yield of C-2-C-4(=) compared to reference catalysts Fe/S and Fe@Sn-h provided strong evidence for the confined catalysis of the metal@zeolite catalyst.

A Core-Shell Structured Na/Fe@Co Bimetallic Catalyst for Light-Hydrocarbon Synthesis from CO2 Hydrogenation

Yanbing Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a core-shell structured Na/Fe@Co bimetallic catalyst was developed to enhance CO2 conversion and selectivity of light hydrocarbons, while inhibiting CO selectivity. Characterization analyses revealed that the introduction of CoCo Prussian Blue Analog (CoCo PBA) increased the reducibility of iron oxide, accelerated the formation of iron carbide, and adjusted the surface basic properties of the catalyst. Additionally, trace Co atoms acted as a second active center in the CO2 Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process for increasing the synthesis of light hydrocarbons from CO hydrogenation. This work provides a novel core-shell structured bimetallic catalyst system for the production of light hydrocarbons, particularly light olefins, from CO2 hydrogenation.

Electronic Structure-Based Descriptors for Oxide Properties and Functions

Livia Giordano et al.

Summary: The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy requires the development of efficient and cost-effective energy storage technologies. Utilizing the energy of intermittent renewable sources, such as solar and wind, to perform (electro)catalytic reactions and generate fuels can be a promising approach. However, current catalysts heavily rely on expensive or rare elements, which calls for the discovery and development of materials containing earth-abundant elements. Descriptors that correlate fundamental physical properties, such as electronic structure, with catalytic activity have proven to be a powerful tool in advancing the discovery and design of new catalyst materials. The energy of the oxygen 2p states has been proposed as a descriptor for oxide properties and catalytic activity.

Effects of Potassium Loading over Iron-Silica Interaction, Phase Evolution and Catalytic Behavior of Precipitated Iron-Based Catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

Hai Chang et al.

Summary: The loading contents of potassium (K) promoter have a significant impact on the Fe-O-Si interaction of precipitated Fe/Cu/K/SiO2 catalysts for low-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Increasing K content weakens the Fe-O-Si interaction and increases the crystallite size of χ-Fe5C2 phase and the reactivity of surface carbon. Additionally, a higher level of bulk phase Fayalite (Fe2SiO4) species is observed in catalysts with lower K loading.

Crystal Structure and Properties of Gd1-xSrxCo1-yFeyO3-δ Oxides as Promising Materials for Catalytic and SOFC Application

Tatiana Aksenova et al.

Summary: This study prepared a series of Gd1-xSrxCo1-yFeyO3-delta samples using a glycerol nitrate technique and investigated their structural and electrical properties. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed different crystal structures within different composition ranges, and thermogravimetric analysis was used to study the variation of oxygen content with temperature. Furthermore, measurements of relevant properties showed that Gd0.2Sr0.8Co0.3Fe0.7O3-delta exhibited the highest conductivity and predominantly p-type conductivity.
