Anisotropic Thermal Expansion and Electronic Structure of LiInSe2

Victor V. Atuchin et al.

Summary: In this study, optical quality cm-sized LiInSe2 crystals were grown using the Bridgman-Stockbarger method. The phase purity of the grown crystal was confirmed using powder XRD analysis. The thermophysical characteristics of LiInSe2 were determined and its strong anisotropy in thermal expansion coefficients was established. The electronic structure of LiInSe2 was measured using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and its band structure was calculated using ab initio methods.

Chemical Bonding Effects and Physical Properties of Noncentrosymmetric Hexagonal Fluorocarbonates ABCO3F (A: K, Rb, Cs; B: Mg, Ca, Sr, Zn, Cd)

Yuri Zhuravlev et al.

Summary: This study utilized density functional theory and van der Waals interaction methods to investigate the effects of interactions between structural elements of fluorocarbonates on their elastic and vibrational properties. It also explored the relationship between the elastic properties and the nature of the chemical bond, calculated elastic constants and band structures, and examined normal long-wavelength oscillation modes and their spectra of infrared absorption and Raman scattering.

BSSE-corrected consistent Gaussian basis sets of triple-zeta valence with polarization quality of the sixth period for solid-state calculations

Joachim Laun et al.

Summary: The study introduces a consistent basis set for Cs-Po elements, based on effective core potentials and valence bases, aimed at minimizing basis set superposition error in crystalline systems. Optimization of contraction scheme, orbital exponents, and contraction coefficients ensured stable self-consistent-field convergence.

First-Principle Studies of the Vibrational Properties of Carbonates under Pressure

Yurii N. Zhuravlev et al.

Summary: By using density functional theory with the B3LYP hybrid functional and CRYSTAL17 program code, the relationships between the wavenumbers of normal long-wave nu vibrations and pressure and structural parameters were calculated for various crystals. The study found that with increasing pressure, lattice constants and distances decrease, while wavenumbers increase with higher nu(0).

BaZn3(BO3)2F2: a new beryllium-free zincoborate with a KBBF-type structure

Haotian Qiu et al.

Summary: A new beryllium-free zincoborate, BaZn3(BO3)(2)F-2, with a KBBF-type structure has been synthesized for the first time, showing better linkage in neighboring single layers and large birefringence. This work enriches the structural chemistry of borate system and holds significance in designing beryllium-free borates with a KBBF-type structure.
