Summary: Zero waste management recognizes waste as both a resource and a measure of inefficiency in our society. Shifting from a linear economic model to a circular economy is crucial for creating zero waste cities. A recent study shows that only 9% of the global economy is circular, highlighting the need for effective e-waste management as part of the circular economy. This study presents a successful implementation of the circular economy and offers insights into its role.

Summary: This study examines the influence of executives' hometown identity on green innovation in heavy polluting industries. Using a sample of listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen, the study finds that executive hometown identity promotes corporate green innovation, especially in private enterprises. The mechanism test shows that hometown identity affects green innovation through executive awareness motivation and corporate resource acquisition, with government subsidies being significant only in private enterprises. The relationship between hometown identity and green innovation is influenced by executive corporate-associated capital and government-associated capital, while redundant resources play a positive moderating role.

Summary: This paper evaluates the causal relationship between government subsidy and the innovation performance of new energy firms in China. The study finds that government subsidy policies significantly boost firms' innovation performance, leading to an increase in the total number of granted patents. The effect varies depending on property rights, subsidy scale, and region for new energy firms. Moreover, R&D investment plays a crucial role in how government subsidy policies enhance firms' innovation performance.

Summary: The launch of large-scale bike sharing in China has met the demand for low-carbon short-distance travel, but has resulted in a significant number of abandoned bikes known as the bike-sharing siege. To promote the sustainable development of the industry, this research explores strategies of encouraging bike-sharing companies to recycle and reuse abandoned bikes, as well as improving the efficiency of local government financial resources through the promotion of the EPR system. The study applies evolutionary game theory to examine the interaction between local governments and bike-sharing companies under different subsidy policies, finding that a regressive recycling subsidy policy can effectively promote the EPR system and enhance companies' environmental responsibility.

Summary: This paper empirically examines the impact of command-and-control environmental regulation (CCER) and market-incentive-based environmental regulation (MBER) on enterprises' green innovation. The results show that CCER has a positive effect on both the quantity and quality of green innovation, while MBER has a significantly negative impact. Managers' environmental awareness mediates the relationship between CCER and green innovation, but no such mediating effect is found in the case of MBER. The study also finds that CCER promotes the green innovation capacity of heavily polluting state-owned enterprises in central cities, while MBER negatively affects the green innovation capacity of heavily polluting non-state-owned enterprises.

Summary: Large-scale clean energy deployment and electrification of energy consumption are important for China to address climate challenges and achieve carbon neutrality goals. The development of lithium-ion battery storage technology is crucial for enabling clean energy transition. This study evaluates the technological innovation efficiency (TIE) of China's lithium-ion battery listed enterprises (CLBLEs) and investigates the impact of external and internal factors on TIE. The findings suggest that CLBLEs face inefficiency issues in TIE due to diseconomies of scale. External factors like regional economic level and government subsidy promote TIE, while internal factors such as firm size, financial leverage, profitability, and employee quality significantly contribute to TIE improvement.

Summary: This paper investigates the relationship between subsidies and environmental innovation, taking into account the heterogeneous impacts on different types of firms. The findings suggest that subsidies have a significant and positive impact on green innovation, with cleaner production firms benefiting more than heavily-polluting firms. Additionally, both general subsidies and environment-oriented subsidies contribute to environmental innovation, but their effects vary for firms with different levels of financial constraints. The study also uncovers the mechanisms of greenwashing that conceal the impact of environmental subsidies and limit the efficiency of subsidy usage for environmental innovation.
