MnyCo3_ yOx bimetallic oxide prepared by ultrasonic technology for significantly improved catalytic performance in the reduction of NOx with NH3

Xiangbo Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mn-Co mixed metal oxides (MnyCo3_yOx) were prepared using ultrasonic technology and hydrothermal treatment, and their denitration performance in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with NH3 was evaluated. The results showed that MnyCo3_yOx had significantly better SCR de-NOx performance compared to single metal oxides (MnOx or CoOx). This improvement was attributed to the strong interaction between MnOx and CoOx, which reduced crystallinity, increased surface area, facilitated redox cycling, enhanced reducibility and surface acid sites, and accelerated the reaction between adsorbed NOx species and coordinated NH3. This work suggests that building a strong interaction between catalyst components can improve de-NOx performance.

Application of a novel coagulant in reservoir water treatment in Qingdao

Shenglei Sun et al.

Summary: Epichlorohydrin-dimethylamine (DAM-ECHs) with different viscosities were used as assistants for polyferric chloride (PFC) in the treatment of humic acid polluted reservoir water. The effects of DAM-ECHs combined with PFC on membrane fouling were evaluated. The application of DAM-ECH3 was found to be more effective in turbidity and humic acid removal compared to the other two DAM-ECHs, especially at low PFC dosage. However, the enhancement effect of DAM-ECHs became obsolete when the dosage exceeded 1.0 mg/L.
