VAR-tree model based spatio-temporal characterization and prediction of O3 concentration in China

Hongbin Dai et al.

Summary: This study proposes a VAR-XGBoost model based on VAR, Kriging method, and XGBoost to simulate the spatial distribution of ozone (O3) in China. The research finds that O3 has the highest correlation with PM2.5 and the lowest correlation with SO2. Wind speed and temperature are the most important factors affecting O3 pollution, positively correlated with O3. Precipitation is negatively correlated with 8-hour ozone concentration. The VAR-XGBoost model demonstrates better prediction accuracy compared to other models and performs well in simulating the spatial distribution of O3 concentrations in China.

Spatio-Temporal Characteristics of PM2.5 Concentrations in China Based on Multiple Sources of Data and LUR-GBM during 2016-2021

Hongbin Dai et al.

Summary: This study proposes a model for estimating the concentration of fine particulate matter PM2.5, which combines land-use regression, the Kriging method, and LightGBM. The model successfully predicts the spatial distribution of PM2.5 in China, with high accuracy and applicability. The spatial distribution of PM2.5 in China shows an east-west gradient, strongly affected by topographical factors. Seasonal variations are evident, with lower concentrations in summer and higher concentrations in winter.

Exposure to road traffic noise and cognitive development in schoolchildren in Barcelona, Spain: A population-based cohort study

Maria Foraster et al.

Summary: The study found that exposure to road traffic noise at school, but not at home, was associated with slower development of working memory, complex working memory, and attention in schoolchildren over 1 year. Associations with noise fluctuation indicators were more evident than with average noise levels in classrooms.

State-of-the-art review on the assessment and modelling of traffic noise intensity on roadside dwellers: The Port Harcourt, Nigeria case

James Ihemeje et al.

Summary: This state-of-the-art review focuses on the assessment and modeling of traffic noise intensity on roadside dwellers, particularly in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It discusses the sources of traffic noise and its impact on roadside residents around the world. Various models proposed by researchers of different backgrounds globally have been identified, which can enhance the ability to forecast and manage the health-related noise intensity for residents living near traffic lanes.
