Output characteristics of series-parallel triboelectric nanogenerators

Xinsheng He et al.

Summary: To solve the problem of low output power in triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), the output characteristics of multiple TENGs connected in series and parallel were investigated. A multi-layer TENG experimental device was developed, and equivalent circuits and mathematical models for series and parallel connections were established through experimental modeling. It was found that connecting multiple TENGs in parallel increased voltage, current, and output power regularly, while connecting TENGs in series only depended on the performance of the first and last two generators and was unaffected by the number of TENGs in the series. This finding is valuable for designing high-efficiency TENGs.
