Reduced TiO2 quantum dots/graphene for solar light driven CO2 reduction into precisely controlled C1 vs C2 hydrocarbon products without noble Co-catalyst

Summary: A noble metal-free photocatalyst composed of reduced TiO2 quantum dots (TQDs) dispersed over graphene sheets was synthesized and successfully applied for the photocatalytic CO2 reduction. The addition of graphene induced oxygen vacancies in TQDs, leading to enhanced solar light absorption. Prolonged charge separation in the heterostructure was observed. The product ratio varied depending on the graphene content, with the optimized sample achieving significantly increased CH4 and C2H6 yields compared to TQDs. The photocatalyst exhibited excellent stability under continuous mode, maintaining activity for 72 hours.

Highly Selective Ethylene Production from Solar-Driven CO2 Reduction on the Bi2S3@In2S3 Catalyst with In-SV-Bi Active Sites

Summary: Photothermal catalysis using solar energy is a sustainable strategy for converting CO2 to valuable chemicals. In this work, a Bi2S3(a In2S3 heterostructure catalyst is fabricated to efficiently convert CO2 to C2H4 using photoexcited charge carriers and elevated temperature. The catalyst has unique active sites consisting of Bi and In atoms coupled with sulfur vacancies, enabling selective C2H4 production. The integration of these active sites and the photothermal effect results in high conversion rates and selectivity for CO2 under simulated sunlight. This work provides guidance for the development of efficient photothermal catalysts for CO2 conversion using solar energy.

Variable valence Mo5+/Mo6+ionic bridge in hollow spherical g-C3N4/Bi2MoO6 catalysts for promoting selective visible light-driven CO2 photoreduction into CO

Summary: Ultrathin g-C3N4 surface-modified hollow spherical Bi2MoO6 catalysts (CN/BMO) were synthesized by the co-solvothermal method. The variable valence Mo5+/Mo6+ ionic bridge in CN/BMO catalysts facilitates the rapid transfer of photogenerated electrons. The synergistic effect of g-C3N4 and Bi2MoO6 components significantly enhances CO2 adsorption capability. CN/BMO-2 catalyst exhibits the highest performance for visible light-driven CO2 reduction, with a CO production of 139.50 lmol g-1 and a selectivity of 96.88% for 9 hours.

Configuration regulation of active sites by accurate doping inducing self-adapting defect for enhanced photocatalytic applications: A review

Summary: Recognizing and understanding active sites for novel photocatalyst systems remains a challenge, and it is important to regulate the local geometry and electronic structure around these sites. Doping engineering and defect engineering are effective strategies for modulating the configuration and electronic structure of active sites. Through a synergistic effect of dopant and induced vacancy sites, the reconstructed active sites exhibit asymmetric geometry. This systematic overview focuses on doping engineering and defect engineering strategies for enhancing photocatalytic performance. The asymmetric geometry of the reconstructed active sites leads to unique electronic properties, whose mechanism is thoroughly revealed. Various photocatalyst systems using dopant synergizing induced anion vacancy for different applications are outlined, including energy conversion and pollutant removal. Additionally, the fabrication of doped, defective photocatalysts and photocatalyst systems with dopant-induced vacancy is described.

Promoting water dissociation for efficient solar driven CO2 electroreduction via improving hydroxyl adsorption
