Effect of Direct Transportation to Thrombectomy-Capable Center vs Local Stroke Center on Neurological Outcomes in Patients With Suspected Large-Vessel Occlusion Stroke in Nonurban Areas The RACECAT Randomized Clinical Trial

Natalia Perez de la Ossa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the outcomes of transporting patients with suspected large-vessel occlusion stroke directly to a thrombectomy-capable center versus to the closest local stroke center in nonurban areas of Catalonia, Spain. The results showed no significant difference in 90-day neurological outcomes between the two transport strategies.

Inter-hospital transfer for mechanical thrombectomy within the supraregional stroke network NEVAS

Katharina Feil et al.

Summary: This study analyzed patient selection for mechanical thrombectomy within a telemedicine stroke network. The results showed that patients treated with MT had higher NIHSS scores, were more likely to receive intravenous thrombolysis, and arrived at the hospital earlier. Predictors for performing MT included higher NIHSS scores, higher ASPECTS scores, and earlier time window.

Recommendations for Regional Stroke Destination Plans in Rural, Suburban, and Urban Communities From the Prehospital Stroke System of Care Consensus Conference: A Consensus Statement From the American Academy of Neurology, American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, American Society of Neuroradiology, National Association of EMS Physicians, National Association of State EMS Officials, Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, and Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology: Endorsed by the Neurocritical Care Society

Edward C. Jauch et al.

Summary: Significant advancements have been made in the care of patients with acute ischemic stroke in recent years, particularly in endovascular therapy. Customization of stroke systems of care is crucial to address variations in resources, hospital certifications, and population density in different regions.

Pre-hospital triage of suspected acute stroke patients in a mobile stroke unit in the rural Alberta

Mahesh P. Kate et al.

Summary: Prehospital triage by MSU of acute stroke syndrome can reliably repatriate patients to the home hospital, providing appropriate medical treatment for patients according to their needs. The proposed model has the potential to triage patients effectively and enable treatment in home hospitals whenever reasonable.

Healthy Life-Year Costs of Treatment Speed From Arrival to Endovascular Thrombectomy in Patients With Ischemic Stroke A Meta-analysis of Individual Patient Data From 7 Randomized Clinical Trials

Mohammed A. Almekhlafi et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis evaluated the impact of delays in delivering endovascular thrombectomy on healthy life-years in patients with ischemic stroke. Care delays were associated with significant loss of healthy life-years, with every 1-second delay leading to a loss of 2.2 hours of healthy life. Continuous quality improvement in door-to-treatment times should be a priority to optimize outcomes for acute stroke patients.
