Prescribed-Time Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems via Impulsive Regulation

Xinyi He et al.

Summary: This article investigates the problem of prescribed-time stabilization for nonlinear systems by carefully regulating impulses. The results show that even systems with unstable flows can be stabilized within a prescribed time through the proposed impulsive regulation, although constrained initial conditions are necessary. The main functions of impulsive regulation are balancing the unstable dynamics of the system and adjusting the settling time to fit the prescribed terminal time.

Lyapunov conditions for finite-time stability of disturbed nonlinear impulsive systems

Ying Xing et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on finite-time control of nonlinear impulsive systems with external disturbance. It studies practical finite-time and finite-time stabilization for nonvanishing and vanishing disturbance, respectively. The relationship between finite settling time and impulsive frequency is presented to show the stabilizing effect of impulses. The results demonstrate that systems under nonvanishing disturbance can reach a disturbance-dependent ultimate bound in finite-time, and stabilizing impulses can lead to a relatively smaller settling time. Additionally, systems subject to vanishing disturbance can achieve finite-time stabilization at the origin, with a smaller settling time compared to the situation without impulses. Examples and simulations are provided to validate the proposed results.

Practical Finite-Time Sampled-Data Output Feedback Stabilization for a Class of Upper-Triangular Nonlinear Systems With Input Delay

Jun Mao et al.

Summary: This article proposes a global finite-time stabilization algorithm for a class of upper-triangular nonlinear systems with input delay. A reduced-order observer is established to evaluate the state based on sampled detection of the output. By utilizing the backstepping method and incorporating a power integral technique, a finite-time sampled-data stabilizer is developed under output feedback framework. The unstable dynamics caused by delays can be effectively restrained through the designed stabilizer, leading to practically finite-time stability in a global sense. A simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Dwell-time stability conditions for infinite dimensional impulsive systems

Sergey Dashkovskiy et al.

Summary: This paper considers nonlinear impulsive systems on Banach spaces under disturbances and aims to find dwell-time conditions that guarantee the ISS property. Unlike many existing results, our conditions cover the case where both continuous and discrete dynamics can be unstable simultaneously. Lyapunov type methods are used for this purpose. The effectiveness of the approach is illustrated with a rather nontrivial example, which involves the feedback connection of an ODE and a PDE system.

Finite-time stabilization with arbitrarily prescribed settling-time for uncertain nonlinear systems

Caiyun Liu et al.

Summary: This paper considers global finite-time stabilization with arbitrarily prescribed settling-time for nonlinear systems with unknown control directions and other serious uncertainties. A state-feedback controller is proposed by combining the method of adding a power integrator, homogeneous approach and desingularization technique. A switching logic is then proposed to tune the parameters online, aiming at suppressing serious uncertainties and guaranteeing arbitrarily prescribed settling-time.

Sufficient conditions on finite-time input-to-state stability of nonlinear impulsive systems: a relaxed Lyapunov function method

Zengyun Wang et al.

Summary: This article presents sufficient conditions on Finite-Time Input-to-State Stability (FTISS) of nonlinear impulsive systems, which gathers the analysis of Input-to-State stability (ISS) and finite-time convergence rate. By utilising the Finite-Time Stable Function Pair (FTSFP) and Generalised KL (GKL) function, we established an unified FTISS criterion for nonlinear impulsive systems, in which the impulses maybe beneficial to stabilisation or detrimental to stabilisation. Furthermore, a relaxed Lyapunov Function (LF) method is used to investigate FTISS, and the proposed results are supported by practical numerical examples.

Finite-Time Synchronization of Complex-Valued Memristive-Based Neural Networks Via Hybrid Control

Tianhu Yu et al.

Summary: The article explores the finite-time synchronization problem for master-slave complex-valued memristive neural networks. A novel Lyapunov-function based stability criterion with impulsive effects is proposed for designing the decentralized finite-time synchronization controller. The sufficient synchronization condition provides not only the settling time but also the attractive domain with respect to impulsive gain, average impulsive interval, and initial values. Two examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the hybrid control strategy.

Finite-Time Synchronization of Complex Dynamical Networks via a Novel Hybrid Controller

Qiang Xi et al.

Summary: This article investigates the issue of finite-time synchronization of complex dynamical networks (CDNs) and proposes a new control strategy that combines weak finite-time control with finite times of impulsive control to achieve finite-time synchronization of CDNs. The proposed strategy synchronizes the impulses within a maximal impulsive interval (MII), which is different from existing results. Global and local criteria for finite-time synchronization are established using the concept of impulsive degree. The optimal values for the times of impulsive control in the controllers and the settling time are derived based on initial values. The article also introduces a technical lemma that reflects the core idea. Finally, a simulation example is provided to demonstrate the main results.

Fixed-Time Stability of Nonlinear Impulsive Systems and Its Application to Inertial Neural Networks

Lanfeng Hua et al.

Summary: This article investigates the problem of fixed-time stability in nonlinear impulsive systems (NISs) using impulsive control and Lyapunov functions theory. The article establishes sufficient conditions for the fixed-time stability of general NISs and proposes novel impulse-dependent settling-time estimation schemes that consider the influence of stabilizing and destabilizing impulses on system convergence rate. The proposed schemes provide a quantitative relationship between the upper bound of settling time and impulse effects, showing that stabilizing impulses accelerate convergence while destabilizing impulses decrease it. The theoretical results are applied to delayed inertial neural networks (DINNs) to achieve fixed-time synchronization using two types of controllers. Numerical examples are provided to validate the proposed theoretical results.
