Verification Analysis of Volume Flow Measured by a Direct Method and by Two Indirect CO2 Balance Methods

David Janke et al.

Summary: This study compares different methods of estimating gas emissions and measures CO2 concentrations using two different approaches. The results show that the wind-related method provides more accurate and realistic measurements of total volume flow compared to the direct method, making it suitable for measuring volume flow in agricultural housing systems.

Analysis of the Horizontal Distribution of Sampling Points for Gas Concentrations Monitoring in an Open-Sided Dairy Barn

Provvidenza Rita D'Urso et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the methodological choices in measurement campaigns of pollutant gases in open dairy barns. The results showed that the position and number of sampling points significantly influenced the measurement of gas concentrations in the barn.

On Finding the Right Sampling Line Height through a Parametric Study of Gas Dispersion in a NVB

E. Moustapha Doumbia et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the NH3/CO2 mixing ratio inside a barn using CFD, to assess the value of the common height recommendation guidelines for sampling points in the tracer gas method. Results showed that the best height for sampling points was between 1.5 m and 2.5 m in most cases, indicating the importance of proper height selection for accurate air exchange rate evaluations in naturally ventilated barns.

Inventory reporting of livestock emissions: the impact of the IPCC 1996 and 2006 Guidelines

Barbara Amon et al.

Summary: The livestock sector is a major contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas and nitrogen emissions, and national emission inventories are crucial for reporting emissions. Moving from the 1996 IPCC Guidelines to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines significantly impacts emission estimates from the livestock sector.
