A new technique for flood routing by nonlinear Muskingum model and artificial gorilla troops algorithm

Ehsan Moradi et al.

Summary: Considering the cost and time, the Muskingum method proves to be the most efficient flood routing technique. This paper proposes a new hybrid Muskingum model with a nonlinear Muskingum model and a new lateral flow equation, which significantly improves the accuracy of flood routing compared to previous studies. The artificial gorilla troops optimizer is utilized to approximate the model decision variables, and the results of six case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the new proposed method, especially in the Dinavar River flood, which has not been studied before. The outstanding performance of the artificial gorilla troops algorithm in minimizing the target function is another noteworthy point.

The Application of Multicriteria Decision Analysis Methods in Health Care: A Literature Review

Ilyas Khan et al.

Summary: This article examines the application of multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) methods in healthcare and the publication trends in this area. The study found that hybrid methods are the most commonly used in healthcare decision making, with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) being the most widely used single method. Areas such as treatment, screening and diagnosing, medical devices, and drug development and assessment are receiving increased attention in the context of MCDA applications.

Proper and improper uses of MCDA methods in energy systems analysis

Marco Cinelli et al.

Summary: The current selection of Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods in energy systems analysis is problematic, primarily due to the misuse of weighting methods, inappropriate selection of MCDA techniques, and failure to address obvious interactions in preference models. A newly developed methodology can assist decision makers and analysts in choosing the most suitable MCDA method.

Development of a New 8-Parameter Muskingum Flood Routing Model with Modified Inflows

Eui Hoon Lee

Summary: Flood routing can be classified into hydraulic and hydrologic models, with the former requiring more data and complex calculations than the latter. The Muskingum model is a representative hydrologic model, and a new version incorporating self-adaptive vision correction algorithm has been shown to have smaller errors compared to existing models. The error magnitude may vary for different types of flood data, but tends to be larger for higher flow rates.

Comparing Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methods for the Assessment of Flow Release Scenarios From Small Hydropower Plants in the Alpine Area

Erica Vassoney et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of expanding hydropower generation in the Alpine region on ecology and landscapes, and introduces an experimental approach using multi-criteria decision-making methods in the Aosta Valley in Italy to explore optimal environmental flow scenarios. Seven different MCDM methods are tested, with SHARE MCA, WPM, and VIKOR showing the most promising characteristics in terms of overall feasibility.

Estimation of the Interaction Between Groundwater and Surface Water Based on Flow Routing Using an Improved Nonlinear Muskingum-Cunge Method

Chengpeng Lu et al.

Summary: The study proposed an improved nonlinear Muskingum-Cunge flood routing model that considers lateral inflow, denoted as NMCL1 and NMCL2, which can simulate flood routing and calculate the GW-SW exchange. Through sensitivity analysis, case comparison, and simulation result verification, the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed method were demonstrated.
