Refined composite multiscale fluctuation-based dispersion Lempel-Ziv complexity for signal analysis

Yuxing Li et al.

Summary: This study introduces fluctuation-based DLZC (FDLZC) as an alternative to the classical time series complexity index and proposes refined composite multiscale FDLZC (RCMFDLZC) with improved coarse-graining operation. RCMFDLZC features extracted from bearing fault signals and ship radiated noise signals show the strongest separability and better clustering effect, and the RCMFDLZC-based signal analysis method has a higher recognition rate and outperforms other methods in bearing fault diagnosis and ship signal classification.

Simplified coded dispersion entropy: a nonlinear metric for signal analysis

Yuxing Li et al.

Summary: Recently, a new method called coded dispersion entropy (CDE) is proposed to improve the noise immunity by coding and partitioning the dispersion patterns in dispersion entropy (DE). The simplified CDE (SCDE) is also proposed to reduce computational consumption while maintaining effectiveness. Simulation experiments demonstrate the advantages of SCDE and CDE in detecting nonlinear dynamic changes, and real-world experiments show that SCDE has better performance in medical diagnosis, fault diagnosis, and signal classification.

Integrating test device and method for creep failure and ultrasonic response of methane hydrate-bearing sediments

Qiaobo Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel device is proposed to test the time-dependent deformation and ultrasonic response of hydrate-bearing sediment (HBS) under high-pressure and low-temperature conditions. The device allows control of four pressures and analysis of stress-strain relationships and ultrasonic data to determine the macroscopical failure and microcosmical creep deformation law of the samples. Preliminary experiments have verified the applicability of the device. This method is significant for field observation of reservoir failure during hydrate exploitation using geophysical techniques.

A Fine-Grained Ship-Radiated Noise Recognition System Using Deep Hybrid Neural Networks with Multi-Scale Features

Shuai Liu et al.

Summary: Fine-grained ship-radiated noise recognition in the marine environment is challenging due to high background noise and complex transmission channels. This paper proposes a novel ship-radiated noise recognition system that utilizes multi-scale features and a multi-scale feature adaptive generalized network (MFAGNet). The system achieves high accuracy in recognizing specific ship noises and shows promising results in different underwater acoustic signals.

SO-slope entropy coupled with SVMD: A novel adaptive feature extraction method for ship-radiated noise

Yuxing Li et al.

Summary: This paper uses the snake optimizer (SO) to optimize SloEn and proposes a new entropy indicator, named SO SloEn (SO-SloEn). Then, a novel adaptive S-RNS feature extraction method is put forward in combination with the successive variational mode decomposition (SVMD) and SO-SloEn, which solves the parameter selection problem of variational mode decomposition (VMD). The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by two S-RNS cases, and the results indicate that the recognition rate of the proposed method is always the highest compared with other decomposition algorithms and other entropy indicators under the condition of extracting different numbers of IMFs; moreover, the highest recognition rate can reach more than 92% in both cases.

Summary: This study introduces a new feature extraction method for underwater acoustic signal processing, called slope entropy (SloE). Combined with the variational mode decomposition algorithm, the proposed method analyzes and recognizes ship-radiated noise signals based on the extraction of SloE. Dispersion entropy-based Lempel-Ziv complexity: A new metric for signal analysis

Yuxing Li et al.

Summary: Lempel-Ziv complexity (LZC) is an important metric for detecting dynamic changes in non-linear signals. However, it tends to lose effective information and cannot be applied to real-world signal detection due to its dependence on binary conversion. To address these limitations, a dispersion entropy-based LZC (DELZC) is proposed, which increases class number and reduces information loss through normal cumulative distribution function (NCDF), and replaces binary conversion with dispersive entropy (DE) to capture dynamic changes in time series.

Summary: A novel intelligent fault diagnosis method based on multiscale symbolic Lempel-Ziv (MSLZ) is proposed in this article to identify faults of railway vehicle systems (RVSs). The MSLZ method combines symbolization and multiscale techniques with Lempel-Ziv to enhance feature extraction ability, demonstrating sensitivity to periodic impulses and robustness to environmental noise. It has been shown that MSLZ is superior in extracting fault information compared to other LZ methods.

Classification of Noise Sources for Port Area Noise Mapping

Luca Fredianelli et al.

Summary: Maritime transportation is advantageous in terms of environmental impact but can lead to increased noise emissions in urban areas surrounding ports as traffic volumes rise. Effective noise management in port areas is crucial for reducing citizens' exposure to noise while facilitating maritime traffic growth. However, the scientific community has not thoroughly studied this aspect due to the complexity of noise sources and interactions within port areas.
