A solvent-free and scalable method to prepare alkali soluble soybean oil-based epoxy acrylic resin for photoresist application

Mengxuan Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, alkaline soluble biobased epoxy acrylic resins were successfully prepared as photoresist resin by reacting epoxidized soybean oil with modified acrylic precursor followed by diisocyanate modifying. The resulting product resin showed improved viscosity and the UV-curable coating film exhibited excellent mechanical properties. The use of biomass raw materials and green UV-curing technology in this method aligns with the principles of green chemistry and it has the potential for large-scale industrial resin production.

Tannic acid as biobased flame retardants: A review

Xuanye Wang et al.

Summary: One of the urgent issues in fire safety is the sustainable flame retardancy of polymer materials. Biobased flame retardants, such as tannic acid (TA), have shown great potential for flame retardancy in recent years. This paper reviews the physicochemical and thermal properties of TA, as well as its flame retardancy mechanism when added to common polymeric materials. The achievements in this field have increased our knowledge and spurred the development of biobased flame retardants.

Tannic Acid as a Versatile Template for Silica Monoliths Engineering with Catalytic Gold and Silver Nanoparticles

Irina Postnova et al.

Summary: In this study, a precursor with ethylene glycol residues was used to synthesize bio-nanocomposites of tannic acid and silica in neutral media without the addition of acid/alkali and organic solvents. The silica was fabricated in the form of optically transparent monoliths with various shapes and 2-4 nm pores. The polyphenol remaining in the pores of the silica matrix served as a reducing agent to synthesize gold and silver nanoparticles in situ. The resulting Au@SiO2 and Ag@SiO2 nanocomposites exhibited localized surface plasmon resonance and high catalytic activity.
