Summary: Selective laser melting (SLM) is the most widely used additive manufacturing (AM) technology for 3D printing metals. Attempts to produce cemented carbide by SLM have been unsuccessful, but binder jetting 3D printing (BJT) and micro-extrusion-based methods have been successful in printing and sintering cemented carbide. The development of medium and coarse WC-Co powders with good printability and sintering properties has been achieved, and the wear resistance of BJT cemented carbide matches or exceeds conventionally produced cemented carbide.
