Synthesis of novel fluorobenzene-thiophene hybrid polymer for high-performance electrochromic devices

Xiaoji Wang et al.

Summary: Three precursors of D-A-D type polymers based on fluorobenzene-3-methylthiophene were synthesized through one-step Stille coupling, and the corresponding polymer films with good electrochemical and electrochromic properties were prepared via low-potential electropolymerization. These polymers exhibited high electrochromic performances, including high optical contrast, fast response time, and long-term stability. Due to these excellent electrochromic properties, D-A-D type polymers based on fluorobenzene-3-methylthiophene can be further developed for practical applications.

Carmen Rizzuto et al.

Summary: WO3 and TiO2 thin films were obtained by the sol-gel spin coating method and annealed at different temperatures. The best configurations of the electrochromic devices were found to be using amorphous WO3 thin films annealed at 100 degrees C and 300 degrees C, and crystalline TiO2 thin films annealed at 500 degrees C. These devices showed high coloration efficiency in the visible and near-infrared regions, indicating their potential use in controlling light and heat flux for energy and economic savings.

Plasticizers and Salt Concentrations Effects on Polymer Gel Electrolytes Based on Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) for Electrochemical Applications

Carmen Rizzuto et al.

Summary: This work investigates the electrochemical properties of PMMA-based gel polymer electrolytes, focusing on the effect of salt concentration and plasticizers on the conductivity and stability of the electrolyte. The study utilizes various characterization techniques such as conductivity measurements, thermal analysis, anodic stability testing, and FTIR spectroscopy. The findings reveal that the presence of unreacted PMMA monomer enhances ion conduction, and the addition of plasticizers improves the electrolyte's performance.
