Novel phospha-oxazepinoquinazolinyl derivatives of ibuprofen as nitric oxide synthase inhibitors: Synthesis and biological evaluation

Ayman M. Algohary et al.

Summary: This study described the in vitro biological assessment of novel hybrid phospha-oxazepino derivatives bearing ibuprofenyl quinazolinone moiety as preventing stroke symptoms and inhibitors of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS and nNOS) isoforms. Overall, the tested products exhibited greater inhibition of iNOS than nNOS. The phosphaoxazepinoquinazolinyl derivatives (4, 7, 10-12) were found to be among the most effective inhibitors, showing selectivity for iNOS over nNOS.

Straightforward synthesis, antiproliferative screening, and density functional theory study of some pyrazolylpyrimidine derivatives

Karema N. M. Halim et al.

Summary: In this study, tetrahydropyrimidinone derivative was synthesized through one-pot three components condensation and utilized for the construction of valuable N-heterocycles. The synthesized compounds exhibited significant antiproliferative activity against four human carcinoma cell lines and displayed selective cytotoxicity towards cancer cells through aquaporin channels, as confirmed by DFT simulation.

Magnetic MWCNTs-dendrimer: A potential modifier for electrochemical evaluation of As (III) ions in real water samples

Mehdi Baghayeri et al.

Summary: This study presents the novel synthesis, characterisation, and application of magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified with polyamidoamine dendrimers as a highly sensitive and selective recognition element in sensor development for the electrochemical determination of As(III) in water matrices. The developed sensor showed high sensitivity and selectivity against possible interferents, with a limit of detection of 0.46 μg/L. Its suitability in spiked water samples was also discussed.

Design, Synthesis, and Evaluation of New Colorimetric Chemosensors Containing Quinazolinones Moiety for some Cations Detection in an Aqueous Medium and Biological Sample

Ayman M. Algohary et al.

Summary: A series of new colorimetric chemosensors have been synthesized to detect cations in aqueous medium and biological sample, with some showing significant response to certain cations. Chemosensors 11(a) and 11(b) demonstrated high selectivity and specificity for copper (Cu-II) and mercury (Hg-II) cations, while chemosensors 7 and 10(b) showed high selectivity for cadmium (Cd-II) cation.

Summary: The behavior of 2-benzyl-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one towards nitrogen nucleophiles and carbon electrophiles, and the evaluation of novel synthesized compounds as chemosensors for detecting metal ions were investigated. The compounds showed high selectivity for detecting Hg(2+) and Cr2+ ions, indicating their potential application as optical sensors.
