Proximal Fusion Level Above First Coronal Reverse Vertebrae: An Essential Factor Decreasing the Risk of Adjacent Segment Degeneration in Degenerative Lumbar Scoliosis

Summary: This retrospective radiological analysis of 116 patients with degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) investigated whether proximal fusion level above the first coronal reverse vertebrae (FCRV) could reduce the risk of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). The study found that placing the upper instrumented vertebrae (UIV) above FCRV decreased the incidence of ASD and reduced proximal scoliosis progression.
