Neural Projection Filter: Learning Unknown Dynamics Driven by Noisy Observations

Yangtianze Tao et al.

Summary: In this article, a novel neural stochastic differential equations (SDEs) model called neural projection filter (NPF) is proposed for noisy sequential observations under the continuous state-space models (SSMs) framework. The contributions of this work are both theoretical and algorithmic. The NPF has the capacity to approximate the solution of SDE driven by semimartingale, and a explicit estimation bound is provided. Additionally, a data-driven filter based on NPF is developed, and the convergence of the algorithm is proved under certain conditions. The NPF outperforms existing filters in nonlinear case with robustness and efficiency.

Orientation-Preserving Rewards' Balancing in Reinforcement Learning

Jinsheng Ren et al.

Summary: This article addresses the challenge of balancing main and auxiliary rewards in complex reinforcement learning tasks by formulating it as the search for a Pareto optimal solution. Their proposed variant Pareto method effectively guides policy search towards main rewards and demonstrates impressive performance in both discrete and continuous environments. The algorithm shows the ability to learn expert-level policies in the ViZDoom platform.
