Sakthi Velu Kuppu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel NiO@ZnO modification of TiO2-CsPbI3 photoanode was fabricated for Perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The NiO@ZnO-modified TiO2-CsPbI3 composite was prepared by a facile hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by various techniques. The results showed that the NiO@ZnO-modified photoanode had better visible light absorption and higher efficiency compared to NiO/ZnO-modified TiO2-CsPbI3. Therefore, the NiO@ZnO-modified TiO2-CsPbI3 bilayer photoanode-based PSCs exhibited improved performance.

Effects of Cu, Ag and Au on electronic and optical properties of α-Ga2O3 oxide according to first-principles calculations

Yong Pan

Summary: We studied the effects of alloying elements (Cu, Ag, and Au) on the electronic and optical properties of α-Ga2O3 and found that Cu-doped α-Ga2O3 is more stable compared to Ag and Au doped α-Ga2O3. The alloying elements can expand the volume and lattice of α-Ga2O3 due to differences in valence electronic density. We demonstrated the ultraviolet properties of α-Ga2O3, but adding alloying elements shifts the band gap from the ultraviolet to visible light region and improves the storage optical properties of Ga2O3.

Investigation of the structural and electrochemical properties of a ZnO-SnO2 composite and its electrical properties for application in dye-sensitized solar cells

Arzoo Sheikh et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a nano-sized ZnO-SnO2 composite using a simple mechanical mixing technique and compared its photovoltaic and electrochemical properties with N719 dye in DSSCs. The composite showed improved performance compared to pure ZnO sample, behaving as a single semiconducting material with a single flat-band potential and oxidation/reduction potentials. The higher stability of the composite was confirmed by the improved electron lifetime, suggesting its potential as a new-generation photoanode in high-efficiency DSSCs.

First-principles investigation of structural stability, electronic and optical properties of suboxide (Zr3O)

Yong Pan

Summary: In this study, the structure, electronic and optical properties of Zr3O were investigated using first-principles calculations. The results showed that all three Zr3O oxides were thermodynamically and dynamically stable, with the rhombohedral (R-3c) phase being slightly more stable. Unlike ZrO2, the Zr3O oxides exhibited better electronic properties due to the electronic jump between Zr- excitation band and Zr- conduction band near the Fermi level. The rhombohedral Zr3O also showed better storage optical properties compared to the other two Zr3O oxides.
