Development of wireless smart sensor network for vibration-based structural health monitoring of civil structures

Niusha Navabian et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a wireless smart sensor network for measuring low-amplitude ambient and sudden event monitoring of civil structures. The sensor platform consists of a high-sensitive sensing component and a reliable event detection switch for recording sudden events. The hardware and software design of the sensor nodes provide high resolution and sensitivity, accurate time synchronization, and reliable event-triggered sensing. Experimental and field tests demonstrate the ability of the sensor nodes to detect and record sudden events and provide high-fidelity structural responses and synchronized wireless network for structural condition monitoring.

Investigation of shear-flexural behavior of precast joints in prestressed reinforced concrete

Qing Zhi et al.

Summary: The behavior of precast concrete structures at the limit states of ultimate bearing capacity is influenced by the shear and shear-flexural behavior of the joints between precast components, such as shear wall and beam-column joints, or between the precast component and footing. This study tested the shear-flexural behavior of precast concrete joints in precast structures with high strength reinforcement, finding that prestressing with high strength reinforcement can significantly improve crack behavior, shear bearing capacity, and stiffness. It was also noted that using a grouting material with better performance can improve the bond behavior of reinforcement and reduce adverse effects by the precast joints.

Behaviour of precast reinforced concrete structural wall systems subjected to in-plane lateral loading

Shubham Singhal et al.

Summary: Precast structural walls are commonly used as lateral load resisting elements in buildings due to their improved quality and rapid construction process, but weight and joint connection issues can affect the overall building behavior, requiring detailed investigation. This paper evaluates the behavior of two different types of precast reinforced concrete structural wall systems under seismic conditions.
