Associations between minority stress, depression, and suicidal ideation and attempts in transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals: Systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study meta-analyzed the relationship between minority stress constructs and depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt. The results showed that distal stress, expectations of rejection, internalized transphobia, and concealment are significantly associated with increased depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt. Expectations of rejection and internalized transphobia had larger effect sizes compared to distal stress and concealment.

Seeking of help and support after experiencing sexual harm: considerations for cisgender women, cisgender men and gender-diverse people

Summary: This study explores the help-seeking behaviors of cisgender women, cisgender men, and gender-diverse university students who have experienced sexual harm. The results indicate that sexual harm affects individuals of all genders, with a higher proportion reported by cisgender women. However, a small percentage of individuals disclose their experiences, with family or friends being the most common recipients. Additionally, a minority of cisgender women reach out to specialized sexual violence services or other support services. Cisgender men are less likely to disclose their experiences compared to cisgender women.

Responses to the gender minority stress and resilience scales among transgender and nonbinary youth

Summary: This paper examines the responses of youth to the Gender Minority Stress and Resilience (GMSR) scale and finds differences between binary and nonbinary gender identities. While some differences were found, overall gender identity did not significantly impact scale responses. This preliminary analysis suggests that the GMSR scale is a useful tool, but further research is needed to understand stress and resilience among transgender and gender nonbinary youth.
