The correlation between serum albumin and diabetic retinopathy among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus: NHANES 2011-2020

Gao-Xiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between serum albumin and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The results showed a significant negative correlation between serum albumin levels and DR, suggesting that serum albumin levels can be used as a reference point for long-term follow-up of patients with T2DM.

Prevalence and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy among Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes in a suburb of Shanghai, China

Huiling Tan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in a Chinese population with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Qingpu, Shanghai. The prevalence of DR was 10.1%, with non-proliferative DR being more common. Higher fasting plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobinA1c were identified as known risk factors for DR, while no association was found between lipid indicators and DR. Additionally, higher levels of urea nitrogen and urinary albumin were associated with an increased risk of DR.

Blood Levels of Glycated Hemoglobin, D-Dimer, and Fibrinogen in Diabetic Retinopathy

Heng Zhao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), D-dimer (D-D), and fibrinogen (FIB) in different types of diabetic retinopathy (DR). The results showed significant differences in the levels of HbA1c, D-D, and FIB among non-DR, NPDR, and PDR groups, with the PDR group having significantly higher levels compared to the NPDR group.
