Uptake of postpartum modern family planning and its associated factors among postpartum women in Ethiopia: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The study aimed to estimate the pooled prevalence and factors associated with postpartum modern contraceptive use in Ethiopia. The results showed that the pooled prevalence of postpartum modern contraceptive use was low. Prenatal family planning counseling, postnatal care utilization, spouse communication on family planning, resumption of menses, and resumption of sexual activity were the commonest factors significantly associated with postpartum modern contraceptive use among postnatal women.

Extended post-partum modern contraceptive utilization and associated factors among women in Arba Minch town, Southern Ethiopia

Summary: This study aimed to assess modern contraceptive use during an extended postpartum period in southern Ethiopia and identify associated factors. The study found that 64.7% of postpartum women used modern contraceptives in the last 12 months. Factors associated with modern contraceptive use during the extended postpartum period included resumption of sexual intercourse, receipt of postpartum family planning counseling, and resumption of menses. Younger age and being married were also significant factors.
