Polyethylene Glycol Nanocapsules Containing Syzygium aromaticum Essential Oil for the Management of Lesser Grain Borer, Rhyzopertha dominica

Summary: In this study, a green insecticide composed of polyethylene glycol nanocapsules loaded with clove essential oil was synthesized and tested for its insecticidal activity against a major stored product pest Rhyzopertha dominica. The results showed that the nanocapsules were more effective in killing the pests and also affected their nutritional parameters.

Chitosan-cellulose nanoencapsulation systems for enhancing the insecticidal activity of citronella essential oil against the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis

Summary: Essential oils of plant origin can be a green and effective alternative to synthetic insecticides. In this study, chitosan nanoparticles and cellulose nanofibers were used to control the release of citronella essential oil for pest control. The results showed that these nanoencapsulation systems could effectively control the release of the essential oil and improve its insecticidal effect.

The exposure of S. frugiperda larvae to low concentrations of Piper auritum extract resulted in reduced fertility in emerging adults.

Novel Green Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Using Orange Waste and Its Thermal and Antibacterial Activity

Summary: In this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared using orange peels were investigated for antibacterial activity against various bacteria. The results showed that nanoparticles prepared using chemical methods were larger in size and exhibited higher thermal stability compared to those prepared using green synthesis methods. The antibacterial effect of the nanoparticles differed slightly at lower concentrations, but showed comparable results at higher concentrations, depending on the type of bacteria tested.
