Japanese evaluated nuclear data library version 5: JENDL-5

Osamu Iwamoto et al.

Summary: The fifth version of the Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Library, JENDL-5, was developed to meet the needs of various applications including nuclear reactors and accelerators. JENDL-5 consists of 11 sublibraries and includes updated neutron reaction data for a wide range of nuclei. It also includes the originally evaluated data of thermal scattering law and fission product yield, as well as light charged-particle and photon-induced reaction data for the first time.

Measurement of the natEu(n, ?) cross section up to 500 keV at the CSNS Back-n facility, and the stellar 151,153Eu(n, ?) cross section at s-process temperatures

Xiankai Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the (n,gamma) cross section of Eu-nat was measured using the TOF technique at CSNS, and the resonance parameters of Eu-151 and Eu-153 were extracted. The results show differences between the measurements and evaluated data libraries, providing important input parameters for the calculation of the nuclear astrophysics network.

Background study for (n,γ) cross section measurements with C6D6 detectors at CSNS Back-n

Jie Ren et al.

Summary: The Back-n beam line of the China Spallation Neutron Source is the first white neutron facility in China, aiming to measure radiative neutron capture cross-section. Experimental backgrounds of Au-197 were studied, with time-dependent backgrounds induced by scattered neutrons and in-beam gamma-rays being measured and analyzed. Monte Carlo simulations of these backgrounds showed good agreement with experimental results, validating the background evaluation method.

Origin of the heaviest elements: The rapid neutron-capture process

John J. Cowan et al.

Summary: The rapid neutron-capture process (r-process) is responsible for about half of the heavy elements found in nature, but uncertainties and open questions remain. Studies suggest that the production of the majority of heavy r-process elements may be associated with neutron-rich conditions, such as neutron star mergers.

Summary: Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source were utilized to build a white neutron beam facility, which provides a high-intensity neutron beam with excellent energy spectrum and time resolution. The facility is equipped with advanced spectrometers, detectors, and application utilities, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, particularly neutron-induced cross-sectional measurements.
