BUBs Are New Biomarkers of Promoting Tumorigenesis and Affecting Prognosis in Breast Cancer

Shunan Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that the high expression of BUB1, BUB1B, and BUB3 in breast cancer tissues is associated with poor prognosis. BUB3 can negatively regulate B lymphocytes, while BUB1 and BUB1B inhibit immune responses by promoting the secretion level of checkpoint molecules of the immune system, leading to immune escape of tumor cells. BUB1, BUB1B, and BUB3 may serve as therapeutic targets for breast cancer patients and provide new therapeutic strategies for breast cancer treatment.

Aberrant Gene Expression Profiling in Men With Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome

Tong Chen et al.

Summary: The study reveals the differential gene expression between Sertoli cell-only syndrome (SCOS) and obstructive azoospermia (OA) samples, highlighting the involvement of genes related to cell cycle, reproduction, and inflammation. Through protein-protein interaction network analysis, hub genes associated with SCOS pathogenesis are identified, along with transcription factors and kinases. Furthermore, infiltration of immune cells is found to be significantly higher in SCOS samples compared to OA samples. These findings provide new insights into the pathogenesis of SCOS.

Human obstructive (postvasectomy) and nonobstructive azoospermia - Insights from scRNA-Seq and transcriptome analysis

Shitao Chen et al.

Summary: By analyzing testis biopsy samples using single-cell RNA sequencing, this study revealed transcriptional changes in Sertoli cells in response to a loss of interactions with germ cells in patients with obstructive azoospermia and nonobstructive azoospermia. Additionally, a discrepancy in germ cell populations was observed between an obstructive azoospermia patient and a healthy individual.

MicroRNA expression profiles in the seminal plasma of nonobstructive azoospermia patients with different histopathologic patterns

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the miRNA expression profiles in seminal plasma of nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) patients with different histopathologic patterns and identified hsa-miR-34c-5p as a potential noninvasive diagnostic biomarker for NOA. The study also suggested the involvement of the Notch signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of NOA.

Deciphering the autophagy regulatory network via single-cell transcriptome analysis reveals a requirement for autophagy homeostasis in spermatogenesis

Mei Wang et al.

Summary: Autophagy plays a crucial role in spermatogenesis, with dysregulation of autophagy-related genes possibly contributing to male infertility. The study identified a unique global stage-specific enrichment of autophagy-related genes during human spermatogenesis and highlighted the importance of Cst3 in SSC maintenance and male germ cell development. The findings suggest a conservation of stage-specific expression pattern of autophagy-related genes in mammals and provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for male infertility.
