Changes in failure to rescue after gastrectomy at a large-volume center with a 16-year experience in Korea

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive investigation on the failure to rescue (FTR) after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer patients and explored the associations between FTR and clinicopathologic factors, operative features, and complication types. The study found that older age, high ASA score, and serosa exposure were associated with FTR. Furthermore, patients who underwent gastrectomy in recent years had lower mortality rates when complications occurred. This study is important as it reveals the risk factors for FTR and provides reference for clinical treatment.
