Design, synthesis, biological evaluation, and docking studies of some novel chalcones as selective COX-2 inhibitors

Betul Kaya Cavusoglu et al.

Summary: A series of new chalcones with an SO2CH3 COX-2 pharmacophore were synthesized via Claisen-Schmidt condensation and tested for their inhibition potential against COX enzymes. Most compounds showed moderate to strong inhibitory activity against COX-2, with three compounds exhibiting prominent IC50 values. Molecular docking studies revealed interactions with key amino acids for COX-2 selectivity.
