Malnutrition knowledge among nursing staff in four European countries: A cross-sectional study

Silvia Bauer et al.

Summary: This study compares the level of malnutrition knowledge among nursing staff in Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Turkey and identifies factors associated with this knowledge. The results show that participants from Austria had the highest level of malnutrition knowledge among the four countries. The educational level and specialized training of nursing staff were also found to significantly influence malnutrition knowledge. Improved nursing education and specialized training programs are needed to enhance nutritional care across different countries.

Inflammation as a diagnostic criterion in the GLIM definition of malnutrition-what CRP-threshold relates to reduced food intake in older patients with acute disease?

Maryam Pourhassan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine at what level of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) the risk of low food intake increases in acutely ill older hospitalized patients. The results showed that a serum-CRP of 3.0 mg/dl appears to be a reasonable threshold of acute inflammation leading to reduced food intake in this population.
