Seabuckthorn polysaccharide ameliorates high-fat diet-induced obesity by gut microbiota-SCFAs-liver axis

Ying Lan et al.

Summary: Seabuckthorn polysaccharide (SP) has shown significant amelioration effects on obesity induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) in mice. The effects of SP are mediated through modulation of the gut microbiota and its metabolites, leading to reductions in body weight gain, serum lipid levels, and liver triglyceride levels. SP regulates liver lipid metabolism by influencing the composition of the gut microbiome and increasing the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). These findings suggest that SP could be a potential nutraceutical for alleviating obesity by targeting the gut-liver axis.

Garcinia Cambogia Improves High-Fat Diet-Induced Glucose Imbalance by Enhancing Calcium/CaMKII/AMPK/GLUT4-Mediated Glucose Uptake in Skeletal Muscle

Joo-Hui Han et al.

Summary: This study investigates the therapeutic effects and underlying mechanisms of Garcinia cambogia on glucose homeostasis in obesity-induced diabetes. The results show that Garcinia cambogia increases glucose uptake in muscle cells, activates signaling pathways, and regulates intracellular Ca2+ levels to facilitate glucose uptake. In a diabetes mouse model, Garcinia cambogia administration significantly lowers blood glucose levels.

Coenzyme Q10 alleviates testicular endocrine and spermatogenic dysfunction induced by high-fat diet in male Wistar rats: Role of adipokines, oxidative stress and MAPK/ERK/JNK pathway

Eman A. Allam et al.

Summary: The study found that Coenzyme Q(10) (CoQ(10)) can suppress testicular dysfunction induced by a high-fat diet (HFD). This protective effect may be attributed to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of CoQ(10), as well as its effects on adipokines and spermatogenic cell proliferation.

Edible Vitalmelon Fruit Extract Inhibits Adipogenesis and Ameliorates High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity

Lu Guo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the antiobesity effects of a bioactive extract from vitalmelon, showing its ability to reduce lipid droplet number and intracellular glucose and triglyceride levels in adipocytes, as well as inhibit preadipocyte differentiation. In high-fat diet-induced obese mice, the vitalmelon extract regulated lipid metabolism, leading to lower blood cholesterol, fatty acids, sugar, leptin, and insulin concentrations, and higher blood adiponectin concentrations. Furthermore, the extract reduced abdominal fat levels and lipid droplets in the liver tissue. This suggests the potential of vitalmelon as a promising functional food for obesity management.

A polysaccharide from Sargassum pallidum reduces obesity in high-fat diet-induced obese mice by modulating glycolipid metabolism

Dan Yuan et al.

Summary: Sargassum pallidum polysaccharide (SPP) has been shown to have anti-obesity effects in obese mice by suppressing weight gain, reducing blood glucose and lipid levels, and preventing fat accumulation in the liver and hypertrophy of adipocytes. The mechanism involves the down-regulation of adipogenesis genes.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the dietary supplementation of GO2KA1 can prevent diet-induced weight gain by inhibiting adipogenesis, decreasing lipid accumulation, and increasing adiponectin levels. The anti-obesity effect of GO2KA1 is evidenced by lower cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL levels, higher HDL level, as well as reduced liver enzyme levels in both in vivo and in vitro experiments.

Oleanolic acid derivative HA-20 inhibits adipogenesis in a manner involving PPARγ-FABP4/aP2 pathway

Jie Wang et al.

Summary: The study identified a novel compound, HA-20, derived from oleanolic acid, which demonstrated potent anti-obesity effects by suppressing adipogenesis, reducing body weight, and lipid content. HA-20 modulated adipogenesis/lipogenesis genes, such as Pparg, Cebpa, Fas, Acc, and Fabp4/aP2, and exerted its bioactive roles via downregulating the PPAR gamma-FABP4/aP2 pathway in 3T3-L1, further confirmed in HFD-induced obesity mice. These findings suggest that HA-20 could be a promising lead compound for the development of anti-obesity agents.
