Gallic acid alleviates gastric precancerous lesions through inhibition of epithelial mesenchymal transition via Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway

Wenhao Liao et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the role and potential mechanism of GA on gastric precancerous lesions (GPL), the key turning point of gastritis to gastric cancer, with the aim of delaying, blocking or reversing the dynamic overall process of inflammation-cancer transformation and thus blocking GPL to prevent the development of gastric cancer.

Gallic acid mediates tumor-suppressive effects on osteosarcoma through the H19-Wnt/?-catenin regulatory axis

Fengxiang Pang et al.

Summary: This study found that gallic acid (GA) suppressed the growth and metastasis of osteosarcoma (OS) cells by modulating the H19-mediated Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. These findings suggest that GA may be a promising drug candidate for the treatment of OS.

Effects of gallic acid and Zn, Cu, and Ni on antioxidant enzyme activities of Hyphantria cunea larvae infected with Bacillus thuringiensis

Elif F. Topkara et al.

Summary: This study identified the effects of copper, nickel, zinc, and the antioxidant gallic acid on the antioxidant enzyme activities of Hyphantria cunea larvae infected with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki. Metal exposure increased all enzyme activities, and an antagonistic effect was observed when combining gallic acid with the metals for some enzyme activities.

Mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis

S. David Nathanson et al.

Summary: Invasive breast cancer tends to spread to lymph nodes and other parts of the body. Management of metastasis has evolved to focus on controlling the growth of the disease through surgery, radiation, and systemic treatments, with the goal of inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. Understanding the mechanisms of metastasis could lead to the development of more targeted therapies and improved outcomes in breast cancer treatments.

Gallic Acid Hindered Lung Cancer Progression by Inducing Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis in A549 Lung Cancer Cells via PI3K/Akt

Eul-Bee Ko et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the anti-cancer potential of gallic acid in lung cancer by regulating the PI3K/Akt pathway. Various experimental methods were used to confirm this, including cell assays and mouse models. The results showed that gallic acid inhibits lung cancer progression by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.

Current and future burden of breast cancer: Global statistics for 2020 and 2040

Melina Arnold et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide, with over 2.3 million new cases and 685,000 deaths in 2020. There is significant geographic variation in incidence rates, with lower rates in some Asian and African countries and higher rates in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Northern America, and parts of Europe. Mortality rates show less variation, but transitioning countries still bear a disproportionate burden of breast cancer deaths. By 2040, the burden of breast cancer is predicted to increase further due to population growth and ageing. Global efforts are needed to address this growing burden, especially in transitioning countries where incidence rates are rising rapidly and mortality rates remain high.

Gallic Acid Suppressed Tumorigenesis by an LncRNA MALAT1-Wnt/β-Catenin Axis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Chuan-jian Shi et al.

Summary: Gallic acid (GA) exerts anti-tumor effects on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by suppressing the MALAT1-Wnt/beta-catenin signaling axis, suggesting its potential as a chemo-prevention and chemotherapy agent for HCC patients.

The Role of Tumor Microenvironment in Cancer Metastasis: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities

Christiana M. Neophytou et al.

Summary: The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a crucial role in cancer progression, influencing tumor aggressiveness, dissemination, and immune evasion. Interactions between cellular and structural TME components enable cancer cells to invade and spread, and the extracellular matrix (ECM) also affects cancer cell migration and therapy response. Current and future strategies aim to target these components to block metastasis.
