Comparative Study of the Magnetic Behavior of FINEMET Thin Magnetic Wires: Glass-Coated, Glass-Removed, and Cold-Drawn

Sorin Corodeanu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a comparative investigation of the magnetic behavior of FINEMET glass-coated, glass-removed, and cold-drawn microwires at low and high frequencies, respectively, and its stress dependence. The experimental results show significant differences in magnetic properties depending on the preparation method and microwire diameter. The study analyzes the evolution of magnetic properties with applied tensile force and explores the sensitivity of different properties to force. The results of this comparative study have implications for material selection in miniaturized magnetic and stress sensors.

Preparation and magnetic properties of Co2-based Heusler alloy glass-coated microwires with high Curie temperature

M. Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: In this article, the effect of annealing and the applied magnetic field on the magnetic behavior of Co2FeSi glass-coated microwires with ordered L2(1) structure prepared by Taylor-Ulitovsky technique was studied. The as-prepared and annealed samples exhibited ferromagnetic behavior in the measured temperature and magnetic field range. The annealed sample showed higher magnetization ratio, coercivity, and anisotropy field compared to the as-prepared sample. Irreversibility was observed in the annealed sample at lower magnetic fields, while it was absent in the as-prepared sample due to the mixed amorphous and crystalline structure. Increasing the magnetic field resulted in a gradual change in the magnetic behavior, with the irreversibility disappearing at a magnetic field of about 1 kOe.

Manipulation of magnetic and structure properties of Ni2FeSi glass- coated microwires by annealing

M. Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: In this study, it was shown that the magnetic and structural properties of Ni2FeSi glass-coated microwires are strongly affected by the annealing conditions. Annealing increased the crystalline phase content and changed the hysteresis loop shape. The annealed samples also exhibited higher coercive and magnetic anisotropy fields, while the as-prepared samples showed reduced remanence. The temperature dependence of the coercivity was anomalous for both as-prepared and annealed samples. These results indicate the sensitivity of Heusler-based glass-coated microwires to temperature and annealing conditions, suggesting potential applications in spintronic devices and sensing.

Effect of Annealing on the Magnetic Properties of Co2MnSi-Based Heusler Alloy Glass-Coated Microwires

Mohamed Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the effect of annealing on the magnetic behavior of Co2MnSi-based Heusler microwires. The annealing temperature was set at 1023 K for 2 hours, and annealing above this temperature would damage the glass coating. Both annealed and as-prepared samples showed strong in-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy, and the coercivity of the annealed sample was four times higher than that of the as-prepared sample. Interestingly, both samples exhibited stable coercivity behavior with temperature. The annealed sample displayed sharp irreversible magnetic behavior at a blocking temperature of 220 K, while the as-prepared sample had a blocking temperature of 150 K. The unusual and irreversible magnetic behavior was attributed to the internal mechanical stress induced during fabrication and the stress relaxation caused by annealing.

Preparation and Magneto-Structural Investigation of High-Ordered (L21 Structure) Co2MnGe Microwires

Mohamed Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: The Taylor-Ulitovsky technique was used to prepare nanocrystalline Co2MnGe Heusler alloy glass-coated microwires with specific magneto-structural characteristics. XRD analysis revealed a defined nanocrystalline structure with unique phases. The magnetic properties were influenced by internal stresses and showed anomalous behavior compared to other glass-coated microwires. These microwires have potential applications due to their ferromagnetic behavior and high order.

Estimation of changes in the length of a moving conical domain wall in bistable microwire

Jan Ziman et al.

Summary: The single domain wall process of magnetization reversal in a bi-stable microwire is studied, and models for static planar and folded planar domain walls are analyzed. Using a simple model, the formulas for length, velocity, and mobility of the domain wall as a function of the applied magnetic field were derived, showing that the domain wall shortens with an increasing magnetic field.

Summary: In this study, Co2FeSi Heusler alloy glass-covered microwires were successfully fabricated and their magnetic properties were investigated. The annealing conditions were found to have a strong influence on the magnetic behavior of the samples. Anomalous magnetic behavior was observed in the annealed samples, and the structural properties were analyzed. These findings are important for the design of devices based on magnetization switching.

Unveiling the effect of annealing on magnetic properties of nanocrystalline half-metallic Heusler Co2FeSi alloy glass-coated microwires

M. Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: This article presents a new Co2FeSi glass-coated microwire with a nanocrystalline structure obtained using the Taylor-Ulitovsky technique. The annealing process significantly increased the size of the nanograins and resulted in the observation of perfect square hysteresis loops. The annealed samples exhibited dramatic magnetic behavior at low temperatures and showed critical temperature points where the magnetic behavior changed. The anomalous magnetic behavior can be attributed to the coexistence of ordered and disordered phases induced by annealing conditions. The presence of the glass coating influenced the magnetization behavior and mechanical properties of the Co2FeSi microwires.

Heusler alloys for spintronic devices: review on recent development and future perspectives

Kelvin Elphick et al.

Summary: Heusler alloys are theoretically predicted to potentially become half-metals at room temperature. These alloys have advantages such as good lattice matching with major substrates, high Curie temperature above RT, and controllability for spin density of states at the Fermi energy level. They are categorized into half- and full-Heusler alloys based on crystalline structures, with discussions both experimentally and theoretically.
