Modeling of pressure control in a cryogenic tank by a thermodynamic vent system considering flash evaporation

Xujin Qin et al.

Summary: Thermodynamic vent system (TVS) is a promising method for controlling pressure in cryogenic propellant tanks in microgravity environments. A new model that considers flash evaporation effect has been developed to more accurately simulate the transient liquid-vapor phase change and heat transfer during the TVS depressurization. The model has also been used to analyze the efficiency of the TVS in reducing propellant loss and suggests that increasing heat exchanging area, reducing orifice diameter, or narrowing pressure control band can improve efficiency.

Metal organic framework supported niobium pentoxide nanoparticles with exceptional catalytic effect on hydrogen storage behavior of MgH2

Liuting Zhang et al.

Summary: Nb2O5 nanoparticles with an average size of 10 nm supported on a rhombic dodecahedral MOF were synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction and calcination process. The prepared catalyst significantly improved the hydrogen storage behavior of MgH2. The addition of Nb2O5@MOF effectively enhanced the hydrogen desorption and absorption capacities of MgH2, with reduced activation energies. The composite exhibited good cyclic stability and the Nb2O5 particles were uniformly distributed on the surface of MgH2 matrix.

Experimental and theoretical investigation of absorption and desorption of hydrogen in the LaNi4Co0.5Mn0.5 alloy

Nadia Bouaziz et al.

Summary: The microstructure and hydrogen storage properties of LaNi4Co0.5Mn0.5 alloy were investigated. It was found that partial substitution of Ni by Mn and Co affected the long-term hydrogen absorption and desorption properties. The alloy showed a single LaNi5 phase structure. The study provided important insights into the absorption mechanism and revealed that the absorption of H-gas in the alloy was characterized by chemical interactions.
