Synthesis, characterization and evaluation of anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory potential of curcumin loaded chitosan nanoparticles

Hafiz Muhammad Asif et al.

Summary: This study successfully formulated curcumin-loaded chitosan and sodium tripolyphosphate nanoparticles to improve the bioavailability of curcumin. The properties and effects of the nanoparticles were characterized and compared. The results showed that curcumin nanoparticles had better anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activity compared to curcumin alone. The study concluded that the nanoparticle formulation method can enhance curcumin absorption, reduce the dosing rate, and improve patient compliance.

Improvement of Chitosan Films Properties by Blending with Cellulose, Honey and Curcumin

Noha G. Madian et al.

Summary: Chitosan films blended with natural biomaterials such as cellulose, honey, and curcumin were studied to improve their physical properties. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, mechanical tensile properties, X-ray diffraction, antibacterial effects, and scanning electron microscopy were investigated. Films blended with curcumin showed higher rigidity, compatibility, and antibacterial effects. Moreover, blending chitosan films with curcumin reduced the crystallinity of the chitosan matrix due to increased intermolecular hydrogen bonding, as observed through X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
