Transformation of primary care during the COVID-19 pandemic: experiences of healthcare professionals in eight European countries

Marta Wanat et al.

Summary: During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, European primary care professionals (PCPs) had to quickly adapt to new ways of working, including remote care, amidst a lack of practical training. Despite being overwhelmed with guidance, PCPs turned to their colleagues for moral support and information to cope with uncertainty. Collaboration at the policy level and engagement with local primary care champions are crucial to facilitate easy access to information, ongoing training, and mental health support services for PCPs in future care crises.

Network Analysis of Outpatients to Identify Predictive Symptoms and Combinations of Symptoms Associated With Positive/Negative SARS-CoV-2 Nasopharyngeal Swabs

Herve Spechbach et al.

Summary: This cohort study in Geneva, Switzerland, identified early clinical symptoms predictive of positive or negative SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR results, with anosmia being the strongest predictor for a positive test. Symptoms like breathing difficulties, abdominal symptoms, thoracic pain, and runny nose were associated with a negative test. The study also found three distinct networks of symptoms including respiratory symptoms, systemic symptoms related to fever, and other systemic symptoms related to anosmia, which could help guide targeted testing for COVID-19.
