First, second and third order NLO response of alkaline earth metals doped C6O6Li6 organometallic complexes

Naveen Kosar et al.

Summary: The geometric, electronic, linear and nonlinear (NLO) properties of pure C6O6Li6 and alkaline earth metals (AEM) doped C6O6Li6 organometallics were investigated through quantum chemical methods. The thermodynamic and electronic stabilities of the AEM@C6O6Li6 organometallic complexes were analyzed using interaction (Eint) and vertical ionization energies, respectively. The doping of alkaline earth metals led to a significant reduction in HOMO-LUMO energy gap and enhanced conductivity due to the transfer of electrons between the alkaline earth metals and the C6O6Li6 surface. These organometallics demonstrated deep ultra-violet transparency below 200 nm and exhibited notable NLO responses, which suggest their potential application in future laser devices and optical technologies for achieving better dc-Kerr effect and second harmonic generation effects.

Therapeutic efficiency of B3O3 quantum dot as a targeted drug delivery system toward Foscarnet anti-HIV drug

Muhammad Nauman Zahid et al.

Summary: In this study, B3O3 quantum dot is explored as a carrier for the antiviral drug Foscarnet using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Geometric analysis identifies three stable orientations of interaction between the drug and the quantum dot. Noncovalent interaction index (NCI) and quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analyses reveal the presence of hydrogen bonding in the most stable complex. HOMO-LUMO analysis shows the lowest energy gap in the most stable orientation. The dipole moments and chemical descriptors suggest the significant activity of the B3O3 quantum dot as a drug carrier for Foscarnet.

Doping superalkalis on chlorine substituted coronene: Interactive design computation of new NLO materials for optoelectronics

Fazilat Bano et al.

Summary: The current study explores theoretically designed complexes of chlorine-substituted coronene doped with superalkalis using density functional theory. By superalkali doping, the HOMO-LUMO energy gap is significantly narrowed and the energy gap of the designed complexes is reduced. Additionally, the hyperpolarizability values increase, indicating enhanced nonlinear optical responses. TDOS and PDOS spectral analyses, NCI analysis, and TD-DFT calculations are conducted to better understand the properties and interactions of the designed complexes. The obtained computational results suggest that these superalkali-doped complexes are thermodynamically stable NLO materials suitable for advanced NLO applications.
