Development and Validation of a 96-Well Microplate Assay for the Measurement of Total Phenolic Content in Ginger Extracts

Joel B. Johnson et al.

Summary: A microplate-based assay was developed for measuring total phenolic content in polar ginger extracts, with the method being relatively robust and showing good linearity. The optimized method allows for screening large numbers of samples efficiently and can be useful for identifying high-phenolic genotypes or for quality assurance purposes.

Determination of total flavonoid content by aluminum chloride assay: A critical evaluation

Amjad M. Shraim et al.

Summary: This study critically evaluated the aluminum chloride colorimetric assay by adding standard substances in plant extracts. Due to variations in absorbance values of different flavonoids, the assay produced significant unacceptable differences in the quantification of total flavonoid content.
