3D Printing of Electron/Ion-Flux Dual-Gradient Anodes for Dendrite-Free Zinc Batteries

Hanna He et al.

Summary: A 3D-printed electron/ion-flux dual-gradient porous Zn anode is developed to suppress dendrite growth and achieve dendrite-free Zn-ion batteries. The anode establishes dual-gradient electron/ion fluxes by using bottom-rich conductive Ag nanoparticles and zincophilic Ag nanoparticles, enabling bottom-preferential Zn deposition behavior with unimpeded electron transfer and ion diffusion. The design shows excellent performance in terms of low voltage hysteresis and long lifespan, providing a new strategy for next-generation safe and durable Zn-metal batteries.

Elucidating the Role of Prelithiation in Si-based Anodes for Interface Stabilization

Shuang Bai et al.

Summary: Prelithiation is an efficient method for compensating lithium inventory loss in the initial cycle, but research on its effect on interface stabilization for Si-based anodes is limited. This study quantitatively analyzes the interface formed during prelithiation of SiOx and compares it with prelithiation of Si anodes. A mosaic interface containing lithium silicates phases is formed on both prelithiated SiOx and Si anodes, which is fundamentally different from the solid electrolyte interface formed without prelithiation. Prelithiated SiO1.3 anode with a higher ratio of lithium silicates exhibits improved initial coulombic efficiency and cycling retention.
