Real-space imaging of phase transitions in bridged artificial kagome spin ice

Kevin Hofhuis et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magnetic phase transitions in artificial kagome-lattice spin ice. By controlling the interactions between nanomagnets, the researchers successfully observe the theoretically predicted phase transitions. They change the global symmetry of the system to achieve the transition from high-temperature phase to low-temperature ordered phase and find that the driving force for spin and charge ordering depends on the degeneracy strength at the vertex.

Direct observation of a dynamical glass transition in a nanomagnetic artificial Hopfield network

Michael Saccone et al.

Summary: Spin glasses are widely investigated complex systems, and their theoretical models have broad applications in various fields. This study successfully realized an artificial spin glass within the framework of artificial spin ice systems, and observed characteristic features of a two-dimensional Ising spin glass using cryogenic XPEEM. The findings are of great significance for understanding spin glass behavior and complex systems.

Geometrical control of disorder-induced magnetic domains in planar synthetic antiferromagnets

Kevin Hofhuis et al.

Summary: In this paper, the formation of antiferromagnetic (AFM) domains and the role of magnetic disorder are investigated using a synthetic AFM with tunable coupling. The experiments show that AFM domains spontaneously nucleate and pin at locally disordered sites, defining their size and shape. The manipulation of AFM domain morphology is achieved by varying the interaction strength.

Ising machines as hardware solvers of combinatorial optimization problems

Naeimeh Mohseni et al.

Summary: Ising machines are hardware solvers for finding the ground states of the Ising model. They are of great interest in computational complexity as they can solve any problem in the NP class with polynomial overhead. This review surveys the different approaches to constructing Ising machines and compares their performance, discussing their strengths and weaknesses.

Field- and Current-Driven Magnetic Domain-Wall Inverter and Diode

Zhaochu Luo et al.

Summary: Through investigating the inversion process of magnetic domain walls in synthetic noncollinear magnetic textures, we have successfully realized both field-driven and current-driven magnetic DW inverters by exploiting the lateral coupling between out-of-plane and in-plane magnetic regions induced by the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. We have demonstrated that the efficiency of DW inversion can be tuned by adjusting the shape of the in-plane magnetic region in the inverter.

Voltage control of ferrimagnetic order and voltage-assisted writing of ferrimagnetic spin textures

Mantao Huang et al.

Summary: Voltage control of magnetic order is essential for energy-efficient spintronic applications, and solid-state hydrogen gating allows for reversible ferrimagnetic order control, external-field-free 180 degrees magnetic switching, and ferrimagnetic spin texture manipulation. In this study, the use of electric field-induced hydrogen loading/unloading in GdCo shifts the magnetic compensation temperature and enables control of the dominant magnetic sublattice. Additionally, the weakening of antiferromagnetic exchange coupling results in reversible gate voltage-induced net magnetization switching and generation of ferrimagnetic spin textures.

Artificial out-of-plane Ising antiferromagnet on the kagome lattice with very small farther-neighbor couplings

Jeanne Colbois et al.

Summary: The article compares the simulation results of the nearest-neighbor and farther-neighbor kagome Ising antiferromagnet models with the experimental spin-spin correlations of a kagome lattice of chirally coupled nanomagnets. Despite the smaller ratios between the farther-neighbor couplings and the nearest-neighbor couplings, they still play an essential role in selecting the correlations.
