Synthesis of Graphdiyne Hollow Spheres and Multiwalled Nanotubes and Applications in Water Purification and Raman Sensing

Lu Zhang et al.

Summary: Controlling the structure of graphdiyne (GDY) is important for exploring new properties and applications. This study presents the microemulsion synthesis of GDY hollow spheres and multiwalled nanotubes composed of ultrathin nanosheets for the first time. The formation of an oil-in-water microemulsion is found to be the key factor in controlling GDY growth. The resulting GDY hollow spheres have fully exposed surfaces, exhibiting an ultrahigh specific surface area of 1246 m2 g-1 and potential applications in water purification and Raman sensing.

New Trends in Nanoarchitectured SERS Substrates: Nanospaces, 2D Materials, and Organic Heterostructures

Olga Guselnikova et al.

Summary: This article reviews recent fabrication methods for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates, focusing on advanced nanoarchitecture based on noble metals, nanolayered 2D materials, and nanoarchitecturing with organic molecules. The use of SERS has been extensively investigated for its enhanced signal intensity and the ability to detect a very small number of molecules. Nanoarchitecture strategies are crucial in the development of SERS substrates. The article discusses recent achievements in the morphology of metallic nanostructures and outlines future directions for reproducible preparation and well-controlled nanoarchitecture. The use of nanolayered 2D materials as an alternative to noble metals and the hybridization with organic molecules to improve stability and selectivity of SERS sensing are also described.

Electrochemical sensor based on graphdiyne is effectively used to determine Cd2+ and Pb2+ in water

Ying Li et al.

Summary: Graphdiyne, a new carbon allotrope, showed efficient electrochemical sensor capability for detecting low concentrations of Cd2+ and Pb2+ in water. The study verified that acetylenic links in graphdiyne served as adsorbent sites for heavy metal ions, enhancing the sensor performance. This platform offers a promising direction for developing novel electrochemical sensors with high performance.

Highly Sensitive and Selective Gas Sensor Using Heteroatom Doping Graphdiyne: A DFT Study

Yang Wu et al.

Summary: The 2D functionalized-graphene structure, graphdiyne (GDY), has shown high sensitivity and selectivity towards toxic nitrogen-based gases, particularly in the case of B-doped GDY (B-GDY) sensing NO, NO2, and NH3. The external electric field (E-field) was found to have an effect on the sensing, with the bandgap of the NO-adsorbed system reaching the lowest at -0.5 V/ Å and the highest at -0.1 V/ Å.
