Understanding the intention-behavior gap: The role of intention strength

Mark Conner et al.

Summary: This manuscript provides an overview of recent research on the intention-behavior gap and focuses on moderators of the intention-behavior relationship. It emphasizes the importance of intention strength, which not only predicts behavior but also has features such as stability, resistance to change, and biased information processing. The manuscript suggests that future research should systematically consider a wide range of moderators and explore their mediating effects on intention stability.

All together now - patient engagement, patient empowerment, and associated terms in personal healthcare

Emily Hickmann et al.

Summary: Patients as active partners in their personal healthcare play a crucial role in reducing costs, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring patient-provider satisfaction. However, a theoretical framework and standard conceptual measures for concepts such as patient engagement, patient empowerment, and patient involvement are missing, leading to miscommunication and a lack of theory building and testing. This study aims to identify the relationships and distinctions between concepts relating to patients' active role in their healthcare.
