Highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus-induced inflammatory response in porcine pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells and effects of herbal ingredients on main inflammatory molecules

Yanmei Wu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to understand the effects of HP-PRRSV infection on functions of porcine pulmonary MVECs and the intervention effects of Chinese herbal ingredients on them. The results showed that HP-PRRSV infection caused inflammatory lung injury, and herbal ingredients had the potential to regulate the dysfunction of MVECs induced by viral infection.

Transcriptome profiling identifies immune response genes against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and Haemophilus parasuis co-infection in the lungs of piglets

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of PRRSV and/or HPS infection on lung immune function-related gene expression were investigated. The study identified differentially expressed genes and predicted an immune response model in co-challenged pigs. Additionally, potential pathways promoting pulmonary fibrosis caused by co-infection were identified.

Effects of Highly Pathogenic Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Infection on the Surface Glycoprofiling of Porcine Pulmonary Microvascular Endothelial Cells

Xiaoxiao Song et al.

Summary: The study shows that HP-PRRSV infection can induce glycocalyx disruption of PPMVECs and changes in their surface glycoprofiling, with poly-N-acetyllactosamine and complex N-glycan being the main up-regulated and down-regulated carbohydrate chains, respectively.

IFIT3 and IFIT5 Play Potential Roles in Innate Immune Response of Porcine Pulmonary Microvascular Endothelial Cells to Highly Pathogenic Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus

Yanmei Wu et al.

Summary: The roles of IFIT3 and IFIT5 in inhibiting HP-PRRSV replication in porcine pulmonary MVECs were investigated, and the effects of astragalus polysaccharides (APS) on them were studied. It was found that IFIT3 and IFIT5 play an important role in inhibiting HP-PRRSV replication, and APS suppresses the multiplication of the virus by upregulating their expression.

Interleukin 1α: a comprehensive review on the role of IL-1α in the pathogenesis and treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases

Giulio Cavalli et al.

Summary: IL-1α is a crucial pro-inflammatory cytokine that is present in almost all cell types and plays a central role in the pathogenesis of various organ or tissue inflammatory diseases. Three biologics are available to target and inhibit IL-1α for therapeutic management of these conditions.

Endothelial glycocalyx as an important factor in composition of blood-brain barrier

Fangfang Zhao et al.

Summary: The blood-brain barrier is a complex neurovascular unit that protects neurons and maintains stability of the central nervous system, with endothelial glycocalyx playing a critical role in its structure and functions. Damage to glycocalyx can lead to dysfunction and neurological diseases, highlighting the importance of research in providing theoretical basis for diagnosis and treatment.
