The association of comorbidity measures and mortality in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients by cancer status: RESORT

Cheuk Huen Chan et al.

Summary: In a study of 693 geriatric rehabilitation patients, it was found that CCI and CCI-A scores were significantly associated with higher mortality risk in all three cancer status groups. However, patients with active cancer had a significantly higher 3-month mortality compared to those with no or past cancer, likely due to the advanced nature of the malignancies in this group.

Influences of the Charlson Comorbidity Index and Nutrition Status on Prognosis After Esophageal Cancer Surgery

Yuto Kubo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that a Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) of >= 2 was significantly associated with poor postoperative nutritional indexes at 1 month after surgery for esophageal cancer. This suggests that effective nutritional interventions are necessary for postoperative malnutrition in patients, especially those with multiple comorbidities.
