Automating HEC-RAS and Linking with Particle Swarm Optimizer to Calibrate Manning's Roughness Coefficient

Kazem Shahverdi et al.

Summary: Hydraulic models, such as HEC-RAS, are crucial for accurately simulating rivers and assessing flood conditions. Optimizing and calibrating the Manning's Roughness Coefficient (MRC) is essential, and in this study, HEC-RAS was automated with MATLAB2019 and linked with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Mont Carlo Simulation (MCS). The results showed the importance of accurately determining the MRC to reduce financial costs and human losses caused by floods. Overall, the study scores 8 out of 10 for its significance.

An Improved Fineness Flood Risk Analysis Method Based on Digital Terrain Acquisition

Yichao Xu et al.

Summary: Flood risk analysis plays a crucial role in flood warning systems and disaster prevention. This study innovatively utilized unmanned aerial vehicle flight and digital terrain results to accurately analyze flood risk distribution at the scale of individual houses. The research results are reasonable and reliable, and the methods are significant for both flood risk analysis and disaster prevention management.

Assessing subsidence of Mexico City from InSAR and LandSat ETM plus with CGPS and SVM

Davod Poreh et al.

Summary: This study enhances the analysis of subsidence rates in Mexico City caused by excessive water withdrawal. By integrating InSAR, CGPS, and optical remote sensing data, the study reveals a high correlation between different geodetic methods and uses SVM to classify population density and compare subsidence rates with building distribution densities.
