Summary: Experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of sulfur nanoparticles (SNPs) on the growth, Cu accumulation, and physiological and biochemical responses of oilseed rape. Results showed that SNPs application enhanced plant growth and reduced the toxic effects of Cu. SNPs also mitigated the physiological and biochemical responses induced by Cu stress and promoted nutrient accumulation in plants. Compared with common sulfur particles and sulfate, SNPs showed better performance in promoting plant growth and reducing Cu accumulation.

Biogeneration of silver nanoparticles from Cuphea procumbens for biomedical and environmental applications

Summary: In this study, Cuphea procumbens was used to produce silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with antibacterial and antitumor activity. The biogenic AgNPs were quasi-spherical with an average size of 23.45 nm. The AgNPs showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, with maximum inhibition zones at concentrations of 0.225 and 0.158 mu g/mL, respectively. Additionally, the AgNPs exhibited better antitumor activity against various tumor cell lines and had photocatalytic activity for dye degradation. Overall, this research demonstrates that C. procumbens biogenerated nanoparticles have great potential for biomedical and environmental applications.

Combined effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles and melatonin on wheat growth, chlorophyll contents, cadmium (Cd) and zinc uptake under Cd stress

Glutathione-mediated changes in productivity, photosynthetic efficiency, osmolytes, and antioxidant capacity of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) grown under water deficit

Summary: Globally, salinity and drought are serious threats to vegetable production. This study examines the potential of exogenously applied glutathione (GSH) in relieving water deficits in Phaseolus vulgaris plants grown in saline soil conditions. The results show that foliar spraying of GSH significantly reduces the negative effects of drought on bean plants, improving growth, membrane stability, water status, osmolytes, and antioxidant capacity. In addition, the combination of GSH application with reduced irrigation rates enhances irrigation use efficiency. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of exogenous GSH in alleviating water deficit in bean plants cultivated in salty soil.

Green Fabrication, Characterization of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Using Plant Extract of Momordica charantia and Curcumazedoaria and Their Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities

This study focused on synthesizing zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) from plant extracts and investigating their antibacterial properties. The ZnO NPs showed promising antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Additionally, different concentrations of the ZnO NPs extracted from different plants exhibited increased scavenging of radicals and higher antioxidant activity. Overall, the greenly synthesized ZnO nanoparticles demonstrated remarkable antibacterial properties and antioxidant activity, making them a promising candidate for future pharmaceutical applications.
