Diagnostic accuracy of multiplex respiratory pathogen panels for influenza or respiratory syncytial virus infections: systematic review and meta-analysis

Sophie Jullien et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of the Luminex NxTAG respiratory pathogen panels for detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza viruses. The results showed high sensitivity and specificity of the test for RSV and influenza A/B. However, the performance of other comparator tests varied. Further research is needed to assess its performance in different populations.

Viral Respiratory Pathogens and Lung Injury

Nicola Clementi et al.

Summary: Respiratory viruses can lead to a range of clinical manifestations, and the delicate balance between protective and dysregulated immune responses is crucial. Understanding the mechanisms of viral damage is key to developing new immune-based antiviral strategies.

High Frequency of Viral Co-Detections in Acute Bronchiolitis

Hortense Petat et al.

Summary: The study found that in infants with acute bronchiolitis, 90% tested positive for respiratory syncytial virus and 34% for human rhinovirus, with a higher risk of HRV infection in the absence of RSV. This suggests the presence of interference or exclusion mechanisms between HRV and RSV.
