Electronic, elastic, and thermal properties, fracture toughness, and damage tolerance of TM5Si3B (TM = V and Nb) MAB phases

Yuan Sun et al.

Summary: First-principles calculations were used to predict the properties of TM5Si3B compounds, including electronic, elastic, and thermal properties, fracture toughness, and damage tolerance. The results show that V5Si3B and Nb5Si3B are stable and exhibit certain mechanical and thermal characteristics.

First-principles investigation of solution mechanism of C in TM-Si-C matrix as the potential high-temperature ceramics

Delin Pu et al.

Summary: The study used first-principles calculations to investigate the occupation mechanism of C in TM5Si3 silicides, revealing that C element prefers to occupy Mo5Si3-C(2) and Ta5Si3-C(3) models. Additionally, the results show that the additive C element weakens the mechanical properties of TM5Si3, but can improve the fracture toughness of Mo5Si3 and Ta5Si3.

A Theoretical Investigation on the Physical Properties of SrPd2Sb2 Superconductor

Md. Zahidur Rahaman et al.

Summary: The high temperature phase of SrPd2Sb2 exhibits bulk superconductivity below 0.6 K, with electron-phonon coupling constant and density of states being major factors. Detailed physical properties were investigated using a DFT-based computational method, showing good agreement with experimental data. The compound is ductile and relatively soft, with metallic conductivity mostly emerging from Pd and Sb atoms.
