X-ray/gamma ray radiation shielding properties of α-Bi2O3 synthesized by low temperature solution combustion method

B. Chinnappa Reddy et al.

Summary: In this study, pure and stable alpha-Bismuth Oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using a low temperature solution combustion method. The synthesized sample was characterized and tested for its shielding properties against X-ray/gamma rays. The results showed stable phase formation and suitable optical band gap, with slight deviations observed at lower energies.

Epoxy-POSS/silicone rubber nanocomposites with excellent thermal stability and radiation resistance

Mengni Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, epoxy POSS (ePOSS)/silicone rubber (SR) nanocomposites with excellent properties were prepared. The addition of a small amount of ePOSS not only improved the mechanical properties of the matrix, but also significantly enhanced its thermal stability. Compared to SR, ePOSS/SR exhibited higher radiation stability, and the mechanism of radiation-induced crosslinking and degradation of the nanocomposites was proposed by analyzing the changes in chemical structure, thermal properties, mechanical properties, and gas products.

High-Temperature-Performance Cyanate Ester Composites with Carboranes

Shailja Goyal et al.

Summary: In this study, boron-based hydroxy (PD) and epoxy (EP)-functionalized carborane additives were used to enhance the thermal properties of cyanate esters (CEs). The results showed that carboranes can reduce the curing activation energy and improve the thermal stability of the resin.
