Toward Ultrasonic Wire Bonding for High Power Device: A Vector Based Resonant Frequency Tracking and Constant Amplitude Control

Shuyuan Ye et al.

Summary: This study proposes a vector-based resonant frequency and constant amplitude control method for the electrical packaging of high power devices. The ultrasonic transducer is controlled by calculating voltage and current vectors. The vibration stability is improved through fuzzy self-tuning PID closed loop control. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively control the resonant frequency and achieve stable and reliable amplitude, thus improving the quality of the bonded joints.

An analytical model to study the frequency response of ultrasonic welding transducers

Amir Yazdian et al.

Summary: This paper develops an analytical 3D model to study the effects of the workpiece's stiffness and material properties on the frequency response and mode shape of ultrasonic welding transducers. The model takes into account both longitudinal and lateral vibration, as well as the piezoelectric and excitation electrical fields. The validity of the model is confirmed through comparison with a physical test setup, showing a high level of accuracy.

A Novel High-Speed Resonant Frequency Tracking Method Using Transient Characteristics in a Piezoelectric Transducer

Jeonghoon Moon et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the importance of driving the piezoelectric transducer in ultrasonic systems and the need to track its resonant frequency for stable output. A new high-speed resonant frequency tracking method is proposed, which analyzes the correlation between the system's resonance frequency and the mechanical resonance frequency of the piezoelectric transducer to achieve accurate tracking in a short time.
